Scoop Up Ice Cream Fun to Support Wilmot Cancer Center Jan. 28
December 27, 2006
If you’ve got a hankering for ice cream, consider entering Scooper Bowl III. This ice-cream-eating contest begins at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, at Eastview Mall and supports the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Scooper Bowl III, sponsored by Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream and Treatery, is the most delicious fund-raiser for the Wilmot Cancer Center.
The brain-freezing competition is open to individuals and teams who raise lots of “moo-lah” for the Wilmot Cancer Center. And you’d better start your time-trials early to get in shape for the main event. Last year’s champion – Tony Greco, who calls himself the ‘King of Ice Cream’ – finished a huge bowl of ice cream in less than two minutes.
The contest will be held in three categories – grades K-5, grades 6-12, and adults. Winners in each category will receive a party package for 12, including more ice cream.
“What could be a more fun way to raise money for the Wilmot Cancer Center than by eating Maggie Moo’s ice cream in a contest? It's a win-win situation,” said Emma Kreienberg, a ninth grader at Pittsford Mendon High School, who is planning to compete.
To enter, go to www.wilmotcancercenter.com. All contestants must pre-register by Jan. 22.
The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, the Finger Lakes region’s largest center for cancer care and research, is raising $42.5 million to expand its programs and construct a new state-of-the-art facility.
