Buzz Christmas Spectacular Raises $116,167 for Wilmot Cancer Center

The Breakfast Buzz Christmas Spectacular raised $116,167 for the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center today. The radiothon supports expansion of cancer care and research at Rochester’s largest cancer center.
“The whole day was a great success,” said Richard I. Fisher, M.D., director of the Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center. “The community support we’ve seen is overwhelming and we’re grateful to everyone who participated, as well as The Buzz radio for its generosity.”
The Breakfast Buzz 98.9FM hosted the third annual event at TC. Hooligans at The Mall at Greece Ridge. There were live bands, carolers, and children’s activities amidst the constant ringing of the telephones.
Christmas Spectacular was sponsored by TC Hooligans, The Mall at Greece Ridge, Messenger-Post Newspapers, Michael’s Arts and Crafts, Premier Fitness, Clix Portrait Studios, Cornell’s Jewelers, The UPS Store, Advantage Federal Credit Union and 98.9 The Buzz. In addition, J.B. Sterling Construction matched the first $25,000 in donations.
The James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, the Finger Lakes region’s largest center for cancer care and research, is raising $42.5 million to expand its programs and construct a new state-of-the-art facility.
