Keeping Active Backs Healthy

A free community presentation will address ways physically active adults can keep their spine in top shape and prevent injury. A Sports Medicine Approach to Spine Care will be held 7 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 27 at University Sports Medicine.
Glenn Rechtine, M.D., professor of Orthopaedics and David Speach, M.D., associate professor of Orthopaedics, both spine physicians from the University of Rochester’s Spine Center will be joined by Shannon Smith, P.T., and Allyson Lee Borrino, A.T.C.,
both from University Sports Medicine, to present a wide-ranging discussion on the various issues athletes face with spinal health and injury.
The workshop will cover the most common spine injuries and helpful treatments; ways to prevent spinal injury and re-injuries; management of back pain while trying to maintain an active lifestyle; and exercises to build and maintain a strong core strength.
University Sports Medicine is located at Clinton Crossings, 4901 Lac DeVille Blvd. Building D, Suite 110. The workshop is free, though pre-registration is preferred. To reserve a spot, please call 341-9150.
