April 17, 2007
Colon cancer experts from the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center will lead a panel discussion on advances in care on Thursday, April 26, at Gilda’s Club and Cancer Action. The free program begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m.
The “Ask the Expert” event will feature oncologist Alok Khorana, M.D., radiation oncologist Alan Katz, M.D., and surgeons Rabih Salloum, M.D., and Jenny Speranza, M.D. , of the Medical Center’s colorectal surgery division. They will discuss colon cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survival, as well as steps for disease prevention.
Colorectal cancers are among the top five cancers in the United States. Every year, 150,000 people are diagnosed with colon cancer. Survival rates are improving as a result of early detection and advances in therapies.
