Fennell Memorial Golf Tournament June 10 Benefits Wilmot Cancer Center
May 24, 2007
The Mike Fennell Memorial Golf Tournament will be Sunday, June 10, at Brookwoods Country Club, formerly Ontario Golf Club, and funds raised will support the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Fennell was an inspiration to the Rochester community as he was a stellar baseball player, having played as a catcher in the Yankee organization, and was head coach for the McQuaid Jesuit High School team.
When he was diagnosed with lung cancer, his strength, faith and passion to beat the disease touched many in the community. Fennell received the Wilmot Cancer Center’s Inspiration Award, the organization’s highest honor, in 2002.
The scramble-format tournament begins at noon with a light lunch followed by a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Dinner and awards will follow at 6 p.m.
The cost is $125 per person. Reservations can be made by contacting Erin Fennell at (585) 943-0391 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Rich Smerbeck at (585) 586-7863 or email@example.com.
The Wilmot Cancer Center is the leader for cancer care in the Finger Lakes region. The center is raising $42.5 million to expand cancer care and research in Rochester and construct a new state-of-the-art facility.
