Free Prostate Cancer Screening Sept. 19 at St. Joseph’s Center

University Urology will provide free prostate cancer screenings for men over 40 who have not been screened from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at St. Joseph Neighborhood Center, 417 South Ave. The screening is part of the University of Rochester Medical Center’s efforts to mark Prostate Cancer Awareness Week.
The screening will include a simple blood test to check for the prostate specific antigen (PSA) level and a digital rectal exam. Registration is required. Call 325-5260.
Screening for prostate cancer can save lives. In the , more than 220,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer annually and 27,000 men die from it each year. Although prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death among American men, it is curable if it’s caught early.
