Gala Rings in Twentieth Year Championing Children
October 15, 2007
The 20th anniversary Gala to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong, set for Saturday, Oct. 20, again features celebrations that will sprawl across two spacious airplane hangars.
One of Rochester’s prime black-tie evenings, last year’s event drew a record 997 guests and netted a record $460,000, making it the children’s hospital’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
This year, the special anniversary night will commemorate strides made for the community’s children over the past two decades: creating state-of-the-art clinical spaces for pediatric surgical and acute care, recruiting top surgeons, clinicians and researchers to Rochester, faithfully training tomorrow’s pediatric leaders, and – announced just this month – seeking approval for a watershed project that would create a whole new children’s hospital, replete with private rooms for every child.
In keeping with the “Twenty Years of Miracles” theme, the special anniversary Gala features extra luxurious prizes up for bid in live and silent auctions, including:
· a special lunch with Louise Slaughter in Washington complete with a tour of the White House
· a day of pampering at Pittsford’s Del Monte Spa and Lodge
· a getaway trip for two to a Tuscan farmhouse-turned-inn nestled in Italy’s Chianti wine region
· a Buffalo Sabres package, including tickets and the experience of watching the game right from owner Tom Golisano’s box
Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. at USAirports Aircraft Hangar, 1295 Scottsville Road. Festivities – music by Nik and the Nice Guys, dinner and live and silent auctions – will revolve around a fall harvest motif that captures the heart of the evening: gratefulness and giving back.
The night is made possible courtesy of presenting sponsor, ESL Federal Credit Union, together with special 20th Anniversary Sponsors, The Cabot Group, Palmer Foods, the William and Mildred Levine Foundation, TOPS Markets and Anthony J. Costello & Son, Inc.
