Eating Disorders Event to Teach How to Spot Signs, Symptoms

On Friday, Feb. 29, Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong and Unity Health System are teaming up to help health care and mental health care providers spot the signs and symptoms of eating disorders. Parents are also welcome.

Registration for the free event begins at 8:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital's East/West Auditorium, 89 Genesee St., Rochester. (Free parking is available in the garage adjacent to the hospital.) Presentations begin at 9 a.m. and are expected to conclude at 4 p.m. The presentations include:

·    Medical Aspects of Eating Disorders by Richard Kreipe, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Adolescent Medicine, Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong and Medical Director, Western NY Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders.

·    Mental Health Aspects of Eating Disorders by Cris Haltom, Ph.D., a privately practicing psychologist in Ithaca who specializes in treating children with eating disorders.

·    Nutritional Aspects of Eating Disorders by Glenda McPherson, R.D., a dietician with Unity Eating Disorders Program.
