Medications: Proper Storage, Preventing Overdose, Playing it Safe

February 11, 2008

Learn how to safely store medication in your home – both for your protection, and for the protection of your youngest visitors – at this informational seminar, “Home Medications: Proper Storage and the Prevention of Overdose,” to be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Highlands at Pittsford’s Hahnemann Club, 301 Stoutenburgh Lane, off Hahnemann Trail.

The program is jointly led by John Benitez, M.D., M.P.H., and Amy Davis, managing director and health educator, respectively, at the Ruth A. Lawrence Poison and Drug Information Center, nestled in the University of Rochester Medical Center. Attendees will discover how most overdoses happen, and how the Poison Center can help prevent – and provide counsel and emergency help after – a medication mishap.

The seminar is free, but seating is limited. Reserve your spot by calling (585) 275-2838.

This is the second event in “To Your Health!,” a new lecture series sponsored by the Highlands at Pittsford and the University of Rochester Medical Center. The series will offer a selection of free health and wellness presentations aimed to inspire and educate older adults.
