“To Your Health!” Explores Causes and Treatments for Back Pain
April 02, 2008
The free "To Your Health!" educational series featuring health experts from the University of Rochester Medical Center continues in April at The Highlands at Pittsford with a program aimed at helping older adults tackle back pain issues.
Fight Back: Don’t Let Lower Back Pain Keep You Down will be offered from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22. Studies have shown that eight out of every 10 adults will develop debilitating low back injury and/or pain at some point in life. The good news is that a majority of these injuries can be prevented through education.
Led by Joseph Griseta, P.T., a senior outpatient physical therapist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, the course will demonstrate proper postures, body mechanics and preventative measures to help minimize risk of low back injury during daily routines and activities. Griseta also will discuss common spine diagnoses and treatments commonly seen within the scope of physical therapy practice.
Reservations are required for the free seminar, as seating is limited. For information or to register, please call (585) 275-2838. Classes are held at The Highlands at Pittsford’s Hahnemann Club, 301 Stoutenburgh Lane, off Hahnemann Trail in Pittsford.
To Your Health! is sponsored by The Highlands at Pittsford and the University of Rochester Medical Center. The series offers a selection of free health and wellness presentations aimed to inspire and educate older adults.
