April 07, 2008

Strong Fertility Center of the University of Rochester Medical Center invites the community to join in the celebration of its 25 years of service helping families grow. The Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary at the first A.R.T. of Hope Luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Locust Hill Country Club. A.R.T. is an acronym for Assisted Reproductive Technology, a term used to encompass a variety of medical treatments and procedures used to treat infertility and help couples conceive.

Headlining the event will be Zev Rosenwaks, M.D., director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Cornell Medical Center. Rosenwaks is a noted world authority on reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and one of the founding pioneers in assisted reproductive technologies. He is professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Revlon Distinguished Professor of Reproductive Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Rosenwaks has been instrumental in developing new fertility-enhancing protocols throughout his career and was the first to develop an egg donation program in the United States.

“It is a great privilege to be a part of one of the earliest successful programs for in vitro fertilization and the longest-running program in upstate New York,” said Kathleen M. Hoeger, M.D., director of the Strong Fertility Center and associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. “We are delighted to have Dr. Rosenwaks help us celebrate this milestone with the community.”

Strong Fertility Center physicians and staff will also be on hand to celebrate and former patients will share their success stories.

The A.R.T. of Hope Luncheon is open to the public. Reservations are required as seating is limited. Door prizes will be awarded. Tickets are just $15 and are available by calling (585) 276-3803.
