Join patients and staff members from the Program in Heart Failure and Transplantation for the third annual “And the Beat Goes On…” fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Doubletree Hotel, 1111 Jefferson Road, Rochester.

Proceeds will be used for future development of a hospitality house that will assist with the needs of adult critical care patients and their families.

There will be dinner; dancing; a silent auction, raffles and door prizes; and great live bands, including 3rd Degree and Second Chance. Second Chance drummer Tom Arcara of Spencerport is a transplant patient who received a new heart in 2005.

The Program in Heart Failure and Transplantation reached a milestone this year, performing its 100th heart transplant in February. The team performed its first transplant in February 2001. Since then, approximately 1,500 patients from across upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania have received care, including not only heart transplants, but also state-of-the-art medical therapy, heart failure surgery, and the implantation of life-saving artificial heart pumps.

The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Doubletree Hotel, 1111 Jefferson Road, Rochester. Tickets are $35 per person. Call (585) 349-0686, or the Friends of Strong at (585) 275-2420 for information.
