October 30, 2008
The Edge women’s hockey teams have launched Skating for the Cure, a season of fundraising to support the Wilmot Cancer Center’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center. The players are honoring Meagan Mackenzie, a local athlete and breast cancer survivor.
Throughout hockey season, teams will work to raise $100,000 for the breast center.
Medical Center staff can support the effort by purchasing Skating for the Cure paper hockey pucks at the Medical Center bookstore and Specialty Shop. Players will display the $5 pucks at the ESL Sports Centre rink in hopes of turning the rink pink. Sweatshirts are also available at the bookstore.
