How Sweet it is to be Helping Kids

Children’s Miracle Network Sponsors Hold Promotions to Benefit Pediatric Patients

February 03, 2009

Share sweet treats with loved ones and put a smile on kids’ faces

Share smile cookies with your loved ones and you'll be put a smile on a child's face too. For a fresh take on Valentine's Day, a smile cookie can get across a heartfelt message with an added gift of kindness to our region's children. For the past three years, Rochester-area Tim Horton's stores have spent a week selling Smile Cookies for $1 each to support Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. The special promotion has raised more than $20,000 for the hospital to date.

Smile Cookie week begins Wednesday, Feb. 11, and will continue throughout the week until cookies sell out. All 29 Tim Hortons locations in the Rochester area will be taking part in this fundraiser. For more information, please call Golisano Children’s Hospital Office of Advancement at (585) 273-5948.

Order up a short stack of kindness

On National Pancake Day, IHOP invites you to be a kid to help out kids. Indulge your sweet tooth by ordering up a stack of flapjacks at IHOP and making a donation to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong in lieu of the normal cost of pancakes.

The two Rochester-area IHOP restaurants will hold their 4th annual National Pancake Day between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Visit the IHOP at 2190 N. Goodman Street, Irondequoit, or at 556 Jefferson Road, Henrietta. IHOP is a sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network, a network of 170 children’s hospitals across the country, including Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. Shopping online has never been so sweet

Now, when you buy books at Amazon, look for bargains on eBay, or want to splurge at Sephora, a portion of your purchase can go towards improving children’s health. Shopping for Miracles is a new service that makes it easy to help hospitalized kids while shopping at your favorite stores. Shopping for Miracles has recently been developed by Children’s Miracle Network, which is affiliated with 170 children’s hospitals, including Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

To help out, simply go to http://shoppingformiracles.org/shop, click on the store you want to shop at, and type in your zip code, so that Children’s Miracle Network knows that a portion of the money from whatever you buy should be donated to your local children’s hospital. Shopping has never been so easy, or guilt-free, because all of your purchases done through ShoppingForMiracles.org are helping Rochester-area children.
