Pizzeria Uno Patrons Can Support Wilmot Cancer Center Nov. 10

November 09, 2009

Patrons of Pizzeria Uno Chicago Grill can enjoy a delicious meal and help support the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center’s effort to find a cure for lung cancer on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Meaghan’s Hope, a local group dedicated to supporting lung cancer research, is hosting “A Tasty Way to Raise Dough” fundraiser.

Throughout the day the restaurant will donate a percentage of all bills to the Wilmot Cancer Center, in recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month. The restaurants are located in Victor, Henrietta and Webster. Patrons must present the “A Tasty Way to Raise Dough” form to support the Wilmot Cancer Center.

Meaghan’s Hope was formed in memory of Meaghan Latone, a vibrant, young mother who died from lung cancer. She never smoked and was surprised to be diagnosed with the disease, which is the most common cancer. Lung cancer affects about a quarter-million people each year in the United States and sadly, more than half of them will die from it.

Friends and family have organized Meaghan’s Run and raised thousands of dollars for local research.

The Wilmot Cancer Center is home to the largest lung cancer care team – with surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and nurses -- in the area. The center has more than 400 doctors, scientists and support staff dedicated to finding cures for all cancers.
