Free ACL Injury Prevention Event Offered by URMC
Sports Medicine experts to speak, demonstrate for athletes, parents, coaches on April 22
April 02, 2012
Experts from the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation will offer a free community event this month to share information about ACL injuries and demonstrate how best for athletes – from the high school level to college to weekend warriors – to avoid issues as they begin spring activities.
The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at the Aquinas Institute Field House, 1127 Dewey Ave., Rochester. Gregg Nicandri, M.D., assistant professor of Orthopaedics, will lead a panel of Sports Medicine specialists that will address topics about the incidence, causes, symptoms and diagnosis of ACL injuries. Young athletes in attendance will be invited to use a “jump station” where they can be observed and assessed for proper body mechanics and risk for injury.
Parking for event guests is free. For more information or to register, call (585) 275-URMC (8762).
