Eastview Mall Expansion Celebration Benefits Wilmot Cancer Center

October 24, 2003

The grand opening of Eastview Mall’s new wing on Saturday, Nov. 1, will include a variety of decorating and family activities, and raffles to benefit the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center.

The celebration theme is “Coming Home” and plans include furniture displays and decorating discussions, led by Hilda Santo-Thomas of the popular TV show “Trading Spaces.”

There will also be children’s activities and a variety of raffles for shoppers who want to “come home” with plush, 5-foot teddy bears or gift baskets from their favorite retail stores.  Three teddy bears, valued at $120 each, will be displayed throughout the mall and winners will be drawn at 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1.

“We’re excited to open our new expanded Eastview Mall and to support the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, ” says Michael Kauffmann, mall manager.

Shoppers will also have throughout the holiday season to show their support for local cancer care and research by participating in the Discover What’s In Store cancer research fund-raiser.  More than three-dozen stores have beautiful gifts that will be raffled off to lucky customers on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Baskets will be prominently displayed in each store, including People’s Pottery, Linehan Hallmark, The Body Shop, Crabtree & Evelyn, and Williams-Sonoma, and maps to participating stores will be available at the Mall Customer Service Desk.

Following the Eastview Mall tree-lighting ceremony on Nov. 18, and, throughout the holidays, customers can purchase a keepsake holiday ornament to support local cancer research.  The red glass ornaments are available at the Customer Service Desk for $5 each.
