Kovalsky Carr Electric Supply Raises $50,000 for Wilmot Cancer Center
August 10, 2004
Kovalsky Carr Electric Supply Co., Inc. of Rochester raised $50,000 for the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center during a very special type of trade show held July 23 at the company’s St. Paul Street location.
By charging an admission fee, recruiting sponsors, holding raffles and other fun events such as a dunking booth, customers and vendors of the long-standing Rochester company helped to raise money for the Wilmot Cancer Center. More than 250 people attended the event and enjoyed a picnic lunch and entertainment.
“My mother died of leukemia 30 years ago,” explains Arnold Kovalsky, company owner and event organizer. “Our family contributed to the cancer center when its first building was built shortly after her death. I figure almost everyone has been affected by cancer in some way, shape or form, so raising money for the cancer center was the most worthwhile cause I could think of.”
Proceeds of the event will help fund the new building being planned to house the Wilmot Cancer Center.
