Free Injury Prevention Seminar Focuses on Golfers

April 28, 2005

A free injury prevention and conditioning seminar designed specifically for golfers will be held on Monday, May 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Greece office of University Sports Medicine.

According to Shannon Smith, PT, low back injury is the most common injury resulting from golf play, an injury that can be avoided with proper conditioning.

“Most of the golf injuries we see are mostly due to overuse and poor physical condition of muscles,” Smith said.  “By showing golfers simple warm-up and flexibility exercises, we can help them stop the problem before it occurs.”

The seminar will consist of a 20-minute presentation, followed by an interactive demonstration of warm-up exercises, flexibility exercises and other basic conditioning moves.

All participants should come dressed in comfortable clothes, and bring a golf club. Participants are encouraged to call to register at 225-6296.  University Sports Medicine is located at 120 Erie Canal Drive in Greece.
