Monroe County Sheriff's Foundation to Host Miracle Ride to Help Kids

July 07, 2005

They spend their days helping the people of Monroe County, and the men and women of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Foundation will spend their Sunday helping the children of the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

The annual Miracle Ride to benefit the children’s hospital begins at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 10, at Rick’s Prime Rib House, 898 Buffalo Road in Gates, and will run 112 miles out to Canandaigua and back.

Last year’s weather kept the event from reaching its previous levels of success, but Ken Mancini, a sergeant in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and an organizer of the event, said the fundraising forecast is looking good this year.

“It’s going to be a beautiful weekend for a run,” Mancini said.

Mancini and his motorcycle club, the Warthogs, made up of mostly law enforcement officials and firefighters have also invited a new group to the run – hot rods – to “add a little more flavor, a little more color.”

In addition to beautiful views along the way, the event includes raffles to raise more money for the Golisano Children’s Hospital. The event is open to the public and pre-registration is not required. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday at Rick’s Prime Rib.
