New food and music festival in Fairport to benefit children
August 10, 2005
The Fairport Music & Food Festival from to Aug. 27 is a new festival along the Erie Canal that will include nine local and regional bands and food from Fairport-area restaurants.
The event, which benefits the Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong, will include many children’s activities, including face painting, toy train rides, carnival games, children’s musical acts and a magician. Tickets, which are a $10 donation per person with children under 12 years old free, include all performances and children’s activities.
“This is going to be a great day of musical entertainment and family fun,” said Rob Burch, an event organizer with Andy McDermott. “And it’s all for children in need.”
Two stages will be set up along Liftbridge Lane, located off N. Main Street north of the Erie Canal, with performances by The Bill Tiberio Group, Ciara Lynn, Geoff Harder and the Moonlighters, Stronghold, Worried About Frank, Northside Johnny, The Bob Greco Band, Prezence and Twin-A.
A variety of Fairport-area restaurants will prepare their signature dishes along with children’s favorites. Participants can also enjoy canal cruises on the Colonial Belle with performances by a Dixieland jazz band.
Tickets are available at many area businesses and restaurants, including Fairport Village Inn, Pizza Chef, Donnelly’s Public House and Fairport Village Coffee. For more information and ticket sale locations, visit www.fairportmusicfest.com.
