Run of the Mill Music Festival Aug. 27 – Don’t be Fooled by the Name
August 24, 2005
Saturday’s Run of the Mill Music and Arts Festival simply isn’t. Before owner Ken Gernold and realtor Todd Schaeffer sell the landmark Avon mill and estate, they will host a unique fund-raiser to benefit the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center, from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Gilbert Mill in Avon.
The event features a silent auction of a large collection of art and antiques, wine-tasting by Casa Larga Vineyards, music by eight bands, and the opportunity to tour an intriguing 18th century gristmill and home. And anyone who falls in love with the 8.5-acre estate, complete with mill, barn, woods and pond can purchase it as well.
Gernold, a prestigious interior designer, spent decades restoring the former Gilbert Mill, located at 1178 Gilbert Mills Road in Avon, Livingston County. He transformed the mill and barn into quaint country rental units, ideal for a bed-and-breakfast operation, set on eight acres of land. Naturally, Gernold’s designs create gorgeous settings in each beautifully decorated room of the 14,000-square-foot estate.
Gernold is selling the property – with an asking price of $1.75 million – and will donate a portion of the proceeds from the auction of his art and antiques collection, which dates back to the 1700s, to the Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Bands scheduled to perform throughout the day include 50/50, No Boundaries, Chase & Powell, Flint Creek, Vintage, Dang, Group Therapy and Filmore Freeway.
Tickets, which could include meals, are available at Wegmans Food Markets. They cost $25, which includes lunch, or $50 for lunch and prime rib dinner.
