The children are being cared for in Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). They are located in separate bassinets in one bay of the unit under the care of attending neonatalogist Robert Swantz, MD. They are expected to remain in the NICU for at least a couple months.
The Barreiro quintuplets are the first quintuplets born in Rochester since 1993.
