Midwifery Group
The Strong Midwifery Group is a Division of the University of Rochester Medical Center Department of Ob-Gyn, and is part of the women's services program at Highland Hospital. Midwifery services have been a part of the Department for over 30 years, providing high quality health care to thousands of women and their families.
The Midwifery Group is dedicated to providing compassionate, respectful, and family-centered care during pregnancy and birth, as well as basic gynecologic care, annual exams, and menopausal care. The Midwifery Group also serves teens in the Rochester Adolescent Maternity Program (RAMP), a prenatal health care program for pregnant young women age 18 and under.
The midwives in the Strong Midwifery Group are all Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs), having been educated both as a nurse and a midwife. Our midwives all have Master's degrees and are nationally certified and state licensed. All the midwives are full-time faculty in the UR School of Medicine. If a woman needs additional attention from a specialist physician or other health care professional, our midwives arrange for appropriate consultation, collaboration, or referral with our colleagues at Highland or at URMC.
