Eugene P. Toy, M.D.
Dr. Toy was appointed Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology
at the University of Rochester in July, 2002. He received his MD degree
from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine after completing degrees in
music (piano) from The Juilliard School. He completed his residency
in OB/GYN at the University of Rochester and three years of a gynecologic
oncology fellowship at Yale University
Dr. Toy is currently director of Gynecologic Oncology Research with
interests in both clinical and basic science work. He has presented
his research at numerous society meetings including the Society of Gynecologic
Oncologists (SGO), the Society of Gynecologic Investigation (SGI) and
the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
He is a scholar of the Reproductive Scientist Development Program and is currently working under the Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) program grant.
Dr Toy has received several research awards including the ACOG/Astrazeneca
award for Breast Cancer research, the ACOG/Cytyc Award for Prevention
of Cervical Cancer,
and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation/Cytyc grant.
Dr. Toy has become one of the leaders in robotic assisted minimally-invasive surgery in Western New York. He has been featured on Channel 8 news this past May with health reporter Elizabeth Harness http://rochesterhomepage.net/content/fulltext/?cid=10496 and is a member of the Minimally Invasive Robotic Association (MIRA) of international surgeons performing over 70 robotic surgeries this past year. Current areas of interest:
The human papillomavirus and its relation to cell proliferation
in cervical cancer and precancer. Clinical trials in ovarian cancer
chemotherapy.
