John T. Queenan, M.D.

Photo of Dr. Queenan Dr. Queenan joined the faculty of the University of Rochester as an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology in September, 2000. Prior to that time, he was clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and the Medical Director of the IVF Program at Southeastern Fertility Center in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. A graduate of Brown University, Dr. Queenan did his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania . He spent a year in the University Scholars Program studying Reproductive Biology. He was awarded the John G. Clark prize at graduation for excellence in Research. Dr. Queenan completed his residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. His fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology was at the Jones Institute in Norfolk, Virgnia. Prior to his positions in South Carolina, Dr. Queenan was an Assistant Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Queenan is especially interested in the area of in-vitro fertilization. He has authored many papers and been involved with research projects regarding this field.

Current areas of interest:
In-vitro fertilization, cryopreservation, reproductive surgery, male-factor infertility, reversal of tubal ligation.

    Principal investigator in the following studies:

  • A randomized open-label parallel group multicenter pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic study in anovulatory and oligo-ovulatory infertile female patients compaing Reproex SC, Repronex IM and Pergonal IM in female patients undergoing in vitro fertilization, FPI REP 97-01 and 02.
  • A multi-center, phase III study comparing the efficacy of recombinant FSH versus recombinant FSH and recombinant LH in patients undergoing ovulation induction for assisted reproductive technologies. 1997-98.
  • A phase III open, comparative, randomized, multicenter study to compare the safety and efficacy of recombinant human Chorianic Gonadotrophin (Profasil), administered intramuscularly for inducing final follicular maturation and early luteinization in women undergoing super-ovulation with highly purified human follicular stimulating hormone (Metrodin XP) prior to IVT/ET. 1996.
