More about OCA
The Scientific Advisory Committee, which includes many of URMC's top researches, provides counsel to OCA staff about URMC research strengths, faculty expertise and emerging areas of interest. In addition to facilitating industry research relationships, OCA serves other functions. In partnership with the Office of Technology Transfer, OCA presents select investment opportunities to venture funding sources that support transfer of discovery and invention to public use. The Venture Development Advisory Board maintains a pipeline of information about current and developing URMC “start-up” opportunities. Medical and graduate alumni of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry who have biotech interests and experience may become members of Commercial Link. OCA pairs alumni experts with faculty members who share similar interests. As needed, Commercial Link members voluntarily offer scientific review; consult on the merits of business plans; facilitate access to venture capital; and identify appropriate management. The Commercial Link to AlumniEstablished in 2004 , Commercial Link is now composed of more than 50 M.D., Ph.D., and M.P.H. alumni. Members represent diverse areas of biotech and medical specialization including: medical devices, scientific instruments, nanotechnology, informatics, pharmaceutical development, optics, sensors, compliance, lifestyle interventions, and many clinical specialties. When faculty members approach the licensing specialists in the Office of Technology Transfer, they may query the Commercial Link database to find an alumnus with matching experience. If you are a medical, graduate, or public health alumnus of the URMC, please click here and sign up today to become a member of Commercial Link. |
