Research strengthsURMC dedicates more than 1 million square feet of space and seven facilities to research, including a $500 million expansion over the past decade that added two state-of-the-art laboratory buildings and 80 Ph.D. researchers. The School of Medicine and Dentistry ranks among the top 25 percent of medical schools in NIH research funding, most recently reporting more than $134 million in NIH grants.
