Message from the Senior Associate Dean for Basic Research

Welcome Faculty!

The URMC Office of Corporate Alliances (OCA) is here to assist you in efforts to partner with private, corporate entities. Its mission is to facilitate and expedite the successful transfer of science and technology from the academic laboratory to the realm of medical advancement.

OCA represents distinct benefits for URMC faculty:

  • The identification of incremental extramural funding that can help launch new investigations and create new revenue streams for research programs and academic departments;
  • Vetting of potential matches between the URMC scientific mission and corporate interests;
  • Creation of an information resource for faculty navigating the commercialization process, while working in close collaboration with the URMC Office of Technology Transfer and UR Office of Research Project Administration.

This comprehensive web site has been designed to introduce corporate researchers and business developers to URMC science. It has been launched with a glimpse at some of our many areas of strength; other areas will be added over time.

Your feedback on interactions with OCA as well as opportunities for improvement will be valuable as the office grows. Please direct your comments to me or Acting Director Claudia Stewart.

Stephen Dewhurst, Ph.D.
Senior Associate Dean for Basic Research
