About this ConferenceThe Department of Imaging Sciences of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is pleased to invite you to attend its 6th Annual PACS Conference, "Digital Healthcare Information & Management Systems (DHIMS)." The conference will be held March 14-17, 2006 at The Westin Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. This educational program will offer up to a maximum of 27.50 Category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. A nationally recognized faculty will present technical and clinical lectures and representatives from small to large healthcare environments will present case studies of their experiences in implementing and operating in a digital environment. Attendees will have the hands-on opportunity of working with and viewing the technical offerings of more than 50 leading exhibitors in the digital healthcare market. Ample time will be provided for attendees to interact with both the faculty and exhibitors. The conference will feature a Mix & Mingle Reception on March 14, 2006 plus three breakfast buffets, three lunch buffets, and morning and afternoon breaks. Who Should AttendPACS 2006 is designed for:
Conference DescriptionPACS 2006 will stress the fundamentals of implementing both the data and image information management systems in the Digital Healthcare Information and Management System (DHIMS). The six session Practicum will provide the foundation for understanding the more advanced topics in the final two days of the conference. Presentations and a panel discussion will deal with the inter-relationship and operational characteristics of various clinical information systems such as the HIS, MPI, CPOE and EHR. The unique workflow and information management requirements of clinical applications such as Angiography, Cardiology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, PET CT, etc. will be discussed as well as specialized issues relating to studies that generate large data sets and statutory requirements for the retention of medical information. Technical updates will be presented on storage, CR and DR, security, wireless technology along with case studies from various sized institutions implementing and operating a PACS and a healthcare enterprise archive. Special attention will be given to ergonomics and workflow in the radiology and cardiology environments. A variety of educational methodologies including didactic lectures, case studies and panel discussions will be used as our distinguished faculty shares their combined practical and clinical experiences with attendees. Over 50 industrial exhibitors will demonstrate their clinical applications and offer our attendees a "hands-on" opportunity to translate the knowledge gained in the lecture hall to the practical applications that could be operational their institutions. Conference AttireBusiness casual clothing is recommended for this conference that is known for its relaxed educational atmosphere. The conference room temperature is generally on the cool side and attendees are urged to dress appropriately. |
