Lists of Departments
The College
of American Pathologists has a comprehensive
list.
Of Particular Interest
University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB)
The Department of Pathology's PEIR
(Pathology Education Instructional Resource) contains over 500
annotated and rated links. The list is especially strong in AP and
CP subspecialty areas. The PEIR
Digital Library contains 40,000 public-access images for use in
medical education. See also the Pediatric
Radiology-Pathology web page, from the Departments of Pediatric
Imaging and Pathology, which features teaching cases in CNS/head and
neck, GI/GU, musculoskeletal and chest diseases.
UCLA
The Department of Pathology
and Laboratory Medicine has posted training materials under
"Seminars, Cases, and Lectures".
Georgetown University
The GU Pathology
Web definitely qualifies as cool, but the size of the information
frame is a little small--kind of like viewing info under a microscope.
Indiana University
Department of Pathology
and Laboratory Medicine has interesting graphics and a case
of the month. PERLjam
2.01 is a great collection of images and procedures for histology
and general and systemic pathology. There is also a CD project,
iPimages, with 3 titles currently available in mycology and parasitology
and others forthcoming.
University of Iowa
The Department
of Pathology has developed CME
materials on gyn, gastrointestinal, and kidney pathology (among
others) for the University's Virtual Hospital. Use the search
engine for the Virtual Hospital to look up "pathlogy"--it's
the easiest way to find pages. There's a good list of links
to professional organizations. The Virtual
Slidebox contains histology, histopathology, and cervical cytopathology
images at zooming magnifications and links to other resources.
Johns Hopkins University
The Department
of Pathology
hosts a web-based Surgical Pathology unknown conference with a case
of the week (you have to register, but it's free unless you
request CME credit). Cytology also hosts an interesting
case conference. There is a full list of online
conferences and tutorials under "Teaching".
Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences, Poland
The Department of Pathology
continues to expand the size and English-language contents of its
web site. Interesting for its European perspective and links.
University of Minnesota
The Department
of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has a separate dedicated
home page for its residency
program with a variety of resources.
University of Pittsburgh
The Department of Pathology convenes
the annual fall APIII (Advancing Practice, Instruction and Information
through Informatics) conference. Of particular interest are the multiple
departmental sites,
the AP and CP cases
of the month, the Center
for Pathology Informatics, and a page of signout
tools for pathologists including links to PubMed, tumor staging
registries, and many, many other web-based resources.
University of Texas Southwestern
The Department of Pathology hosts the online
Interactive Case Study Companion to Robbins.
University of Utah
The Internet
Pathology Laboratory for Medical Education (aka WebPath) is a
comprehensive pathology educational resource. There's a COW (Case
of the Week), many images, tutorials, and sample exam questions.
University of Vermont
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides an interesting
set of web-based
toolboxes for faculty and staff. General and systemic pathology
courses are available online.
University of Virginia
The Department
of Pathology has a nice online Laboratory
Handbook (text index). You can also review case
studies.
University of Washington
The Department of Pathology
offers a good set of systemic pathology images
(as well as some stunning photos of Seattle and its surroundings),
including a cytogenetics
gallery.
Yale University
Yale Pathology has set up several scope
cams in Surgical Pathology. Often, nothing is visible.
