As of July 2007, these pages are no longer being maintained. There is a smaller selection of links on our new web pages, under the links menu at the far right side.
The Pathology Internet Resource Pages were first compiled back in
the dark ages, like 9 or 10 years ago, when most people were not
routinely
using the Internet and finding any kind of information related to
pathology was like unearthing a dragon's hoard. Now that searching
the web is more like digging into an ant hill, we have tried to limit
our listings and rely on people's use of general search engines.
However,
there are some pages that are just difficult to give up. Some of
these are a looser fit than others...
The Annals of Improbable Research
(AIR) including the Ig Nobel prizes, AIRchives, and unauthorized teaching
materials.
The FedWorld Information Network
is a program of the Department of Commerce. It offers data from many
Federal agencies, much health related.
GrantsNet is a collaboration
of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and the American Association
for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to bring together young investigators
and funding opportunities. It is hosted by Next
Wave, an online career resource published by Science magazine
with special features for grad
students and postdocs.
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute has published a collection of
advice, experiences and opinions from seasoned biomedical investigators
in its Making
the Right Moves: A Practical Guide to Scientific Management for Postdocs
and New Faculty.
MedWeb, from the
Emory Health Sciences Center Library, is a searchable (or browsable)
list of links to thousands of sites related to every aspect of health
care.
National Cancer Institute Cancer
Research Portfolio contains information on active funded projects
by type of cancer (bladder, melanoma, etc) and type of cancer research
(treatment, prevention, etc). Gives numbers of clinical trials and
total projects under these and subheads. Drills down to title, PI,
institution and project ID.
If you're a browser, you'll like Nature's
web pages. They highlight articles from all the company's magazines
and journals. For URMC researchers, most
of these journals are available through the Miner
Digital Library.
The Nobel Prize Internet Archive
has info on the prizes and prize winners, bulletin board to post questions
and Nobel gossip.
Radiation
Effects Research Foundation. Cooperative Japanese-USA research
organization based in Hiroshima. General information on radiation
effects, articles, recent publications.
The WWW Virtual Library
was started by WWW founder Tim Bernars-Lee. All of its links are not
up to date, but it's nice to look at pages without ads. See especially
Biosciences and
Health.
YOU MISSED IT!
