Microscopy | Microscopy and Imaging - GeneralThe University of Arizona Experimental Pathology Core has an excellent listing of Microscopy and Imaging Resources on the WWW. Many sections provide introductory and summary information as well as links. See, for example, the introduction to Digital Imaging. Microscopy UK has an online magazine, Micscape, and other resources. Microscopy Vendors Database probably has every link you'll ever want regarding microscopy--not just vendors of microscopes and parts, but also second-hand equipment, journals, education, you name it. Molecular Expressions is a favorite of Microscopy UK and it's easy to see why. This site from Florida State University features a microscopy primer loaded with interactive Java tutorials. Also many microscopy links. Nikon Microscopy U is similar to and related to the Molecular Expressions site. Lots of information. The University of Iowa Central Microscopy Research Facility has a little bit of everything concerning microscopy--some images, technical notes, links, and lecture notes from their courses. CytometryThe Purdue University Cytometry Laboratory has a rich site with information and links concerning cytometry and confocal microscopy. They host an e-mail discussion list. Electron MicroscopyElectron Microscopy Yellow Pages has a collection of links to EM laboratories, on-line courses, professional societies, more. University of Hawai'i Biological EM Facility has good descriptions of their many scopes and MicroAngela's SEM Image Gallery. Journals and MagazinesThe International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) has a number of journals online including the Journal of Biomedical Optics and Journal of Electronic Imaging. Articles are highly technical. Microscopy and Analysis is a magazine sent free-of-charge to scientists who specifiy using microscopy, chemical analysis and imaging equipment at work. There's monthly giveaways for subscribers and the site has a monthly synopsis of highlights from journals. Microscopy Society of America has information regarding their journal and annual meeting, both entitled Microscopy and Microanalysis, and a number of WWW links. Image Analysis SoftwareSee Suppliers and Vendors: Software Virtual MicroscopyA comprehensive list of virtual microscopy links from the Molecular Expressions web site. Bacus Laboratories, Inc. (used by Georgetown University) Chaos Project. University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University. Intriguing experiments in image retrieval and virtual microscopy from the Multimedia Information Technology Research Group at Penn State. Symposium on Virtual Slides at the Medical University of South Carolina. Held in November 2002, the site includes slides from presentations, and information on speakers and vendors. The Virtual Slidebox from the University of Iowa acquires images using the virtual slice system from MicroBrightField.
