General Information
Your visit to Strong Memorial Hospital or Highland Hospital may result in billing from various service providers. In addition to the hospital bill, you may receive separate billings for professional providers who assisted with your care. Those professionals include, but are not limited to, your:
- Attending physician
- Radiologist
- Cardiologist
- Anesthesiologist
- Ambulance company
Normally, insurance carriers will send an explanation of benefits explaining what they have paid and what the patient's portion is to pay. Once the balance due is the patient's responsibility to pay, The University of Rochester or Highland Hospital will send a statement to the patient.
Financial Arrangements
Staff is available to discuss your individual financial needs for bills from Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, or University of Rochester Physician Services. To reach them, call the number on your statement. If you do not have insurance or will have difficulty in paying your portion of the bill, the staff can assist you in making payment arrangements or may suggest alternate financial assistance options. Patients will receive necessary medical care, and the care will never be based on the patients ability to pay.
Financial Assistance
The Charity Care Program helps patients who are uninsured or underinsured. The assistance applies to families at a qualifying income level based on the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. In addition, those who have exhausted their insurance benefits, exceeded financial eligibility criteria, face extraordinary medical costs, or who have other unique circumstances may be considered for Charity Care approval at the hospital's discretion.
