Dr. Henderson has been affiliated with the Program in Aging and Developmental Disabilities since he entered his combined fellowship in geriatrics and developmental disabilities in 1995.  He has achieved Board Certification in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and has a strong professional interest in aging and developmental disabilities. Dr. Henderson has lectured at local, national and international forums.  He has participated in research investigating the health status of older adults with developmental disabilities.  He has experience in teaching a wide array of students, including family members, direct care support staff, agency-based developmental disabilities clinicians, physicians-in-training, physician colleagues, and medical research scientists.  He has devised, or assisted with the development of lecture-based and written curricula in the field of aging and developmental disabilities. Dr. Henderson has held many non-University positions in the developmental disabilities field including a primary care practice for people with developmental disabilities he operated for five years.  Presently, he is a consulting developmental physician and geriatrician at four county-based Arc Article 16 clinics and an administrator and project developer for two Rochester agencies that serve people with developmental disabilities. He has extensive “real-world” experience in MR/DD service provision in the local New York State area.
