Information and Dissemination
The Institute aims to improve the availability and access of transiton information to families, individuals with developmental disabilities, teachers and other constituents involved in the transition process. The goal is to increase awareness of resources in the community which will allow for a smoother planning process.
Information and Referral Center
The Institute for Innovative Transition provides an Information and Referral Center for individuals with developmental disabilities ages 14-25, their families, school staff, and adult service providers throughout Monroe County.
A transition specialist is available to assist you with:
- Navigating the transition process
- Postsecondary options for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Referral and contact information for local agencies and support services
- Support with advocating for services and supports
- Vocational information regarding assessments, options and services
- Independent living information

Film Series
Each year the Institute, in collaboration with community partners, sponsors a film screening in the community. The series is designed to introduce the community to diverse stories and experiences related to disability and to strengthen community knowledge for outreach and advocacy.
On May 11th, 2009, Robert Arnold, Amy Hosa and Gannet Hosa-Betonte from the film Key of G came to Rochester to premiere the film at the Dryden Theatre.
