Training and Professional Development

The Institute collaborates with agencies, service providers, and schools to provide assistance with trainings and disseminating transition information to families, teachers, youth and young adults with developmental disabilities.

Healthy Transition Workshop
The Institute is providing a workshop on October 15th, 2009 for Medicaid Service Coordinators regarding health transitions for youth and young adults with developmental disabilities. Through a hands on experience with the Healthy Transitions website, the workshop will demonstrate the use of curriculum
materials designed for individuals with developmental disabilities to improve self

Summer Institute
Last year's Summer Institute discussed Campus Based Options for Students with Developmental Disabilities. Please stay tuned for 2010's topic, date and location.

Outreach
The Institute provides disability awareness outreach to local schools during disABILITY History Week in October. Speakers present information about their disability, myths and misconceptions about disabilities and awareness of accessibility in the community. If you are interested in having a presentation in your classroom or school, please contact the Institute for Innovative Transition.

Future Educator Workshop
A series of workshops will be available for future educators in the area of transition planning for students with disabilities. The first workshop will occur on November 13th, 2009. For more information, please see the Future Educator Workshop flyer.
