Innovative Programs
The Institute provides support for the development of transition programs and activities which includes technical assistance to education agencies, higher education institutions and local businesses to facilitate opportunities for students with developmental disabilities.
Project SEARCH
The Institute for Innovative Transition has partnered with Golisano Children's Hospital to develop a Project SEARCH program in Rochester, New York. For 18-21 year olds with developmental disabilities, Project SEARCH is a one-year, high school transition program that provides training and education which leads to competitive employment.Project SEARCH serves as an alternative for students with disabilities in their last year of school eligibility. Postsecondary Program
This initiative focuses on the development of innovative programs in the community by providing access to higher education for students with developmental disabilities ages 18-25. For more information about postsecondary programs, please visit ThinkCollege.net.
