Strong Children's Research Center
Summer Training Program
The Strong Children's Research Center (SCRC) funds a student training program for outstanding undergraduate (completion of junior year by May of the current year), medical, and graduate students who plan to pursue a career in biomedical research or clinical research. The dates of the program are May 29, 2012 through August 2, 2012. This is an opportunity to develop skills in a variety of research methodologies whereby participants may contribute to a project and ultimately a scientific publication.
The program provides trainees with extensive contacts with investigator and research mentors who guide the research project and serve as role models and provide career direction. Faculty members are either from the Department of Pediatrics or Partners who are engaged in research relevant to childhood diseases and developmental biology.
Student trainees participate in research seminars where emphasis is placed on scientific material appropriate to their level of understanding. Seminars are informative sessions providing participants with an overview of the types of research, career options in research and discussion involving the individual career paths of successful investigators. View a list of sample seminar topics.
Towards the completion of the program, students write an abstract and present the results of their research at the SCRC Poster Session held in August. View of list of recent research topics.
