Developmental Neurochemistry and Neurophysiology

Studies in developmental neurochemistry and neurophysiology in the Strong Children’s Research Center focus on movement disorders in childhood, design and testing of pharmacologic approaches to HIV encephalopathy, developmental determinants of and pharmacological approaches to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, pathogenesis of and novel treatments for Batten’s disease, and development and preclinical testing of targeted therapies for neuroblastoma.  Both grant and contract support from the NIH funds these studies.
