Infectious Diseases Research

Currently, our researchers are studying the following pathogens:

  • Pneumocystis carinii
  • Respiratory viruses including Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
  • Candida albicans
  • Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and 7

Research activities are heavily supported through a variety of extramural funding agencies including the National Institutes of Health, the Center for Disease Control, private foundations, and industry. Currently the division holds 14 grants totaling approximately $3.3 million in direct costs ($4.7 million including indirect costs).
