Department of Pediatrics - Neonatology Research

Fellowship Research

Neonatology Fellows are encouraged to pursue their Research Education with an experience in clinical research and laboratory-based research. Their individual focus, however, will depend on their research interests and career goals. The fellows will work in a rich research environment with many opportunities to develop their research talents. Neonatology faculty lead ongoing, multi-disciplinary research studies with Investigators across the Medical Center and across the country. The faculty has trained many fellows in research and are skilled mentors. Their research programs are robust and generally funded by the NIH. Opportunities are available, within the Division (Neonatology faculty in research), across our Department, (Pediatric Faculty outside of Neonatology) and throughout the University (Faculty of other University of Rochester departments) to work with M.D. and Ph.D. investigators who are national/international leaders in many areas. The Division of Neonatology has broad and significant strengths in both clinical and basic research, which helps optimize our fellows' academic development.  Neonatology Research

Departmental and Institutional support for Fellowship research are available and include educational support through the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and other training opportunities such as a Pediatric T32 NIH training grant. Our fellows are highly competitive for NIH-funded research training growth.

It is anticipated that these scholarly activities will result in presentations by the Fellows at national meetings, and in published manuscripts.
