Health Outcomes in Older Persons with Developmental Disabilities
Longevity among older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is increasing. There is limited information on their health status and how it may change with increasing age. Such information is critical to families, health systems planners, and public health policymakers at all levels. Drs. Philip W. Davidson, C. Michael Henderson, Matthew P. Janicki, and Kathleen Bishop, as well as Ms. Laura M. Robinson, are collaborating to develop national and international databases of information about health outcomes and health care services utilization among older adults with I/DD, using the Rochester Health Status Survey, a data collection instrument they developed. The project is funded as a part of The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
