Co-Director, Disparities Research Training: Cheryl Kodjo, MD, MPH

Dr. Kodjo, a specialist in adolescent medicine, is Chair of the department’s Diversity Committee. She has an NHLBI Career Development Award to develop a novel cultural competence education program across the medical education continuum through teaching, role modeling, and patient-based cultural competence experiences. She works with Dr. Lee Pachter at the University of Connecticut to lead the APA’s New Century Scholars, a national program to mentor minority pediatric residents and attract them to general academic pediatrics. As a first-generation American, born to a Togolese father and a Jamaican mother, Dr. Kodjo has experience navigating several cultures.
