The Division of Neonatology oversees the Newborn Nurseries (NBN) of three area hospitals:

Golisano Children’s Hospital: an integral component of the University of Rochester Medical CenterStrong Memorial Hospital providing a strong base for teaching within the Department of Pediatrics

Fellows play a vital role in patient care provided by the Neonatology Medical Services, including the 52 bed, Level IIID Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the, Neonatal Transport Team. All aspects of clinical care, including ECMO, iNO, all needed subspecialists, pediatric surgeons (general, CT, urologic, ENT, etc) are available on site.

Highland Hospital: a community-based hospital with a low-risk delivery service. Fellows have the opportunity to be the primary caregiver for well newborns and for infants requiring resuscitation in the DR or care in the Special Care Nursery. This experience is supervised by neonatology faculty and involves close interaction with community obstetricians, pediatricians, and family practitioners.

Rochester General Hospital: an intermediate care nursery, managed by pediatric and family practice house staff, and supervised by neonatology faculty. With supervision by the Neonatology faculty, second, and third-year fellows have rotations as acting-attendings in this unit.

Ambulatory Care Clinic: The medical and developmental progress of patients discharged from the NICU is followed through the NICU Continuing Care Program (NCCP). Faculty, fellows, and staff from pediatric neurology, developmental pediatrics, social work, and other clinical services participate with the neonatologists in this follow-up program. Neonatology fellows are also encouraged to participate in the bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) clinic run by the pediatric pulmonary faculty.
