Patient Care Bio

Dr. Mariesa Howe was born in Evanston, Illinois, but spent most of her childhood in Baton Rouge, LA where her father still resides. She spent her high school years in Maryland, and attended St. Mary's College of Maryland where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with a minor in piano performance. She then worked for two years as a laboratory technician in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In 1996 she entered the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine and graduated in 2000. Subsequently, Dr. Howe did her Family Medicine Residency at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY where she was Chief Resident from 2002-2003. From 2003-2005 she worked at Dartmouth-Hitchcock/Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH and served as the Medical Director of the Student Health Center, at Keene State University. She practiced for one year in Greece, NY at West Ridge Family Medicine with the University of Rochester, and was pleased to join Honeoye Valley Family Medicine in December 2006.

Dr. Howe met her husband, Dr. Paul Howe, also a Family Medicine physician, during their residency in Syracuse. They were married in October 2004 in Alpine, NY. After practicing in New Hampshire for two years, she and her husband relocated to Rochester in the fall of 2005 to be closer to family. They also enjoy the Finger Lakes and Adirondacks. She and her husband celebrated the birth of their first child, Quentin, April 2008 and are thrilled to be new parents.

Dr. Howe enjoys the full scope of family practice, from newborns to the elderly, with a particular interest in preventative medicine. Her personal interests include gardening and cooking, travel, outdoor activities, and exploring all that Upstate New York and her local community has to offer.
