Patient Care Bio

Dr. Connolly completed his undergraduate education, Magna Cum Laude, at the University of Toronto in Ontario Canada. Prior to medical school Dr. Connolly held research assistant positions at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in Salsbury Cove, Maine and at the URMC Department of Environmental Medicine in Rochester, New York. He later received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine.



Dr. Connolly completed his residency at and served as chief resident of the URMC Department of Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York. He is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis, the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Connolly has received several prestigious pre- and post-doctoral fellowship awards and honors including a clinical research fellowship award from the International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis. He currently holds a Wilmot Research Fellowship to conduct research in the area of cancer-associated thrombosis. Dr. Connolly has authored numerous publications in this area, and he frequently presents at the local and national levels.

Dr. Connolly's areas of clinical interest include gastrointestinal oncology, thoracic oncology, and benign hematologic disorders including problems of hemostasis and thrombosis. He and his clinical team strive to provide excellent care in a patient centered manner. Dr. Connolly is a strong advocate of clinical trials to advance the current standard of care. He participates in several trials at the Wilmot Cancer Center related to gastrointestinal oncology and thrombosis prevention and management.
