My passions include caring for children to improve their overall health and teaching trainees and other healthcare providers.

As a pediatrician, I enjoy working with children and their families to provide guidance during a child's development, appropriate treatment during illness, and support throughout. My approach is to work in partnership with my patients, families, and the community to help each individual be as healthy as possible.

I love to teach and include it in my practice as well as my education work with the University of Rochester. My scholarly work focuses on medical education particularly related to residency training. I'm also interested in community-level advocacy, physician wellness, and fostering equity and belonging.

Dr. Caren Gellin is the Pediatric Residency Program Director at the University of Rochester and a pediatrician at Golisano Children’s Hospital Pediatric Practice. She obtained her medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo in 2004 and completed her pediatric residency and chief residency at the University of Rochester in 2008. Previous roles have included the Director and creator of an Interprofessional Simulation Instructor Course, Assistant Director of the Primary Care Clerkship, and a pediatrician in private practice. Dr. Gellin's scholarly interest focuses on pediatric resident education. Specific concentrations include interactive teaching modalities, feedback and assessment, interprofessional education and practice, and faculty development in medical education. Additional areas of interest include community-level advocacy, fostering equity and belonging in the physician workforce, and physician wellbeing.
