Laura Martin joined the URMC Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in November of 2006. Prior to her current appointment, she worked as a prenatal genetic counselor for Yale University Department of Genetics. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Cornell University and her Master of Science degree in Human Genetics from University of Michigan. During this time she completed clinical training in prenatal, pediatric, adult and cancer genetics. Laura Martin is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Patient Care Bio
Laura Martin is a board-certified Genetic Counselor in Reproductive Genetics. Her primary role is to meet with families who have a higher than average chance to have a baby with a genetic condition or birth defect. She strives to interpret complex medical information in a way that is meaningful to her patients, to provide psychosocial support, to identify appropriate patient resources, and to promote informed choices regarding testing, management and/or treatment options.
