Professional Bio

Dr. Kate C. Young, received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Johns Hopkins University with Honors and went on to complete her Master of Science degree in Pharmacology and her doctoral degree from the University of Rochester in 2004.
Dr. Young earned an American Heart Association pre-doctoral fellowship award from July 2000 through June 2002. Recently, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship focusing on preventive cardiology. In addition, she has published many papers and has earned several awards, one of which was a first place presentation award at the University of Rochester for a conference titled "A cost-effective analysis of stenting and endarterectomy in patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis using recent trial results".

Dr. Young's special interests include the risks and benefits of intervention for carotid stenosis in aging populations, risks and benefits of aortic aneurysm repair, and use of TEE as a diagnostic tool in patients with schemic stroke. She is also a member of the American Heart Association.
